Cycling Performance Programs - Fall 2010 

 

Beginner Cycling Performance Clinic
(2 sessions, 2 hours each session)
Learn to take control of your bike and develop basic cycling skills. Enhance or develop such skills as bike handling, gearing, riding on city streets, balance, smooth pedaling, braking, basic hill climbing or increasing speed. Participants should know how to ride their bike but may not yet be comfortable with many of these skills. Road bikes or hybrids OK.  Limit: 12.
 
Dates:         Tuesday 9/14/10 and Thursday 9/16/10
Meet:           6:00pm, Wheels Down 6:15-8:15pm
Location:    Anderson High School (Steck & Mesa)
Fee:              $100 ($80 Returning Tough Cookies)

Intermediate Performance Cycling Program
(6 Sessions, 1 hour/session)
Improve your cycling skills with this technique focused class for intermediate riders! Each one hour workout will be an intense interval workout covering cadence, hill climbing or speed drills. Learn how to effectively use body positioning, climbing techniques, cadence and pacing to improve your cycling endurance, strength and speed. Participants should have basic riding skills, but all speeds welcome. Participants can repeat this program to continue enhancing their cycling fitness and skills. Required: A road bike with both speed/distance and cadence sensors installed on bike (must be installed when you attend the first class). Limit: 20.

 
Dates:        Tuesdays 9/21/10-10/26/10
Meet:          6:15pm, Wheels Down 6:30-7:30pm 
Location:   Various locations in Central/Northwest Austin
Fee:              $150 ($125 Returning Tough Cookies)

NEW! Advanced Intermediate Performance Cycling Program II 
(5 Sessions, 1 hour/session): 
Prerequisite: Intermediate Performance Cycling Program I
Use all the techniques and skills you learned and/or improved during the Performance Cycling I class and take it to the next level.  Each one hour workout will be an intense interval workout with hill climbing or speed drills. The workouts are tougher and the hills are bigger and/or longer this time. Participants should have completed the Cycling Performance I class so you are familiar with the techniques we will be using. Workouts are less about learning techniques and more about applying them to the "big stuff." Participants can repeat this program to continue enhancing their cycling fitness and skills. A road bike with both speed/distance and cadence sensors installed on bike (must be installed when you attend the first class) and clipless pedals. Limit: 20.
 
Dates:        Thursdays 9/23/10-10/21/10
Meet:         6:15pm, Wheels Down 6:30-7:30pm
Location:   Various locations in Austin proper
Fee:             $125 ($100 Returning Tough Cookies)
